Minors aren’t allowed to buy lighters, but buying rolling papers and tobacco is okay

Minors will have to use a magnifying glass on a nice sunny day to spark up their smokes in Marceline, MO.

Okay im 17….
I own bongs and pipes and smoked for 2 years…i myself had to ask and ask till i can finally get them from friends and wasted alot of money on weed…plus and extra grinder
So for once i just turned 17 and i went and bought my dumbass a lighter..cause im tired of asking friend to buy me shit and i want too my own. “Do you have an i.d”? I do and i showed it but since it said 17 i couldnt and i ended up getting mad. I thought why would u need a i.d if everyone buys lighters ..thats the dumbest shit ever! 17 years of waiting and i have to wait one more?WHAT THE FUCK its so stupid honestly…cmon what has society become

I don’t know for real nout this law but I live in brookfield more which is 9miles fron marceline I’m gonna have one of my nieces or nephews buy my smokes the next time I’m over there and I’ll let u know how it go.

So which specific law prohibits sale of lighters and or/matches? I don’t care about opinions. I asked for laws. Please don’t comment and say paraphernalia, unless you know and site the specific paraphernalia laws that specifically list lighters. I’m in Ohio. I’m 100% sure they aren’t listed but, there will always be liberal communist nannies wanting to control things, but I’m the type that snaps out of bogus nanny state goons. My gf buys cigarettes and there is one specific african american female who always has comments and purposely augments what my gf can buy. The other day she informed my gf that instead of four packs of cigarettes, she would only be receiving two. The reason being, “we need to save some other people.” fucking wow. then a couple days later, the same female once again augmented my gf’s order of two packs of shorts to, one pack of shorts, and one pack of 100s. Like who the fuck this bitch think she is? I’m pretty sure the lighter thing is some sort of discrimination and I’m about to seek legal action against any and all sales in which a person’s opinion seems to hide behind made up laws.

Why is it illegal to go in the store and purchase rolling if your
over the age of 18. How did they come up with that law. It’s consider pairphanial. Why is that? Your sales would go up If you find that out.

I remember when I was 18 I bought a lighter and the clerk asked for my I.D. I thought it was pretty odd, so I asked why. She told me it is illegal to sell lighters to minors IF they have lighter fluid in it. She told me if there is no lighter fluid in it, then it can be sold to anyone. It could have been that town’s law…but now that I am thinking of it, she might have been retarded. But if it is a real law, it an interesting one to say the least.

So wait a minute.. The law for buying a murderous product has set age limits.. even though people die anyhow.. but things such as paper with glue on it, or glass sculptures, also require an i.d… Now.. think a moment here.. A kid gets his hands on tobacco or cannabis or something.. wouldn’t you want him ingesting in a safe manner, such as papers or pipes, rather than bible paper or receipts or aluminum foil pieces? Sure, some of you will say “Oh minors shouldn’t have any of that anyways” but that doesn’t really alter the fact that they can still get it.. and do get it.. Should just ban cigarettes completely if you wanna do something ACTUALLY effective.. goddamn

I work at a gas station in MO, and if you appear under the age of 30 we will card you for: lighters, rolling papers, cigars, cigarillos, blunt wraps, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and many other tobacco products/accessories. It’s the law and my job requires me to do it, and if you can’t produce a valid ID we refuse to sell to you the product, as well as any friends or family members you’re with, because that is considered a two-party sale and we can lose our job, and even go to jail.

Actually, all 50 states, including Missouri, prohibit the sale of tobacco or tobacco related products to minors. Lighters are not actually on the list, though some convenience stores, such as QuickTrip, require you to be at least 18 years of age to purchase lighters. If you appear to be under the age of 40 at some places they’ll card you for tobacco or tobacco products.

just to let u all know this was talking about a town not the entire state of mo

I live in Springfield Missouri, and you have to be 18 years or older too buy it! If your younger, your breaking the law.

I live there too and almost two years ago when I was 17 the guy just asked my age and I lied and he sold me a pack of cigarettes

I’m from missouri and I’m only 16 but I’ve been buying lighters, tobacco,n rolling papers since I was 12 gas station clirks don’t care

alot of gas stations don’t care. or cant tell your age. and gum wrappers when you scrape the silver stuff off or bible paper can be used as substitute for rolling paper.

Hello, since I own rollingpapers.com I could probably elaborate. In 1996 is when it became illegal for a minor to buy lighters and rolling papers. This was the Tobacco Accessories Law. A whole bunch of products fell under this 1996 bill making it difficult for those under 18 and under 21 in California and 19 in Alaska to purchase tobacco accessories.

Yeah, im in missouri too and they dont let us buy paper or tabacco, and only some stores let me buy lighters

I agree with the above. When I was younger, I couldn’t even buy a lighter.

I have bought lighters before and im a minor from missouri. They dont let us buy papers or tobacco
