i told my recruiter i smoked weed

Should I tell my Recruiter I smoked pot?

I smoked pot when I was 14 (I am almost 17, will be in August). I have my recruiter (SGT Ryan Allen NG). Should I tell him I did this? It was only for a experience and my friends were begging me to do it. I only smoked it twice. First time: I didn’t get enough to do anything. Second time: I tripped SO badly I never EVERRRR wanted it again. Seriously. If he approves of it, do I tell the MEPS station? Or deny it?

PS. I am enlisting in the United States Army.

what if he asked if I smoked any kind of drug.

Calm down and don’t worry about it. Your recruiter won’t care. I told my Air Force recruiter that I had smoked pot once, gave a rough estimate of the date, and I had no problem with it. They just want to know. As long as it’s been a while, you’ll be just fine. I smoked pot two years ago and no one bothered me about it at all at MEPS. The doctor just said “so it says you smoked marijuana before, tell me about that” and I told him that I had only done it once two years ago and didn’t plan on doing it again and that was that, we moved on to the next question. If your paperwork asks if you have “ever” smoked pot or done any illegal drug, you do have to say yes, you don’t want to lie on government paperwork. But if it says “16 and over” like someone suggested (I don’t remember my paperwork saying that, but they’re probably right) then don’t worry about it. As long as you haven’t smoked in the last few weeks or something, you should be fine. They just don’t want you to be smoking now or have it show up on your drug test. THEN it’ll be a problem for you, but otherwise, you should be fine, kid. Either way, it’s not going to hurt you, so why think about lying?

Don’t tell them. The retards at MEPS wont care if you only experimented they will DQ you from some jobs. More then likely if you have told your recruiter he will tell you that you are mistaken and you never actually smoked weed lol.

Stop smoking pot and you’ll be good. you keep it up and you may get caught while your in- which an unhonorable discharge is in order and no one will hire you or want you at their college after that

you smoked pot once when you were 14 so what. would you bring this up if you were apply n for a job. then why tell your recruiter. i mean it was only that one time it aint like you do it every day.

What would happen if I told my recruiter that I smoked Marijuana?

Hello everyone. I used to smoke Marijuana, I used to be a frequent user like 2 days a week on weekends and I have interest in joining the Navy. Like an idiot I put on the sheet I smoked last long ago which wasn’t truthful. If I tell my recruiter the truth, will I be barred from joining forever or will he just not let me join for awhile? (I haven’t enlisted)

Thanks for the answers guys. I forgot to mention the last time I smoked was last week.

Thanks for all the answers guys, even if you’re criticizing me lol.

dude forget everyone that tells you that you cant give up weed right away. I quit cold turkey around four months before enlisting because i thought the drug test was a hair follicle test. I enlisted in august of 2009 and i’m currently in the k and i haven’t touched marijuana once. I have no cravings what so ever. If you’re gonna go to MEPS and its been less than a month since you last toked up it will probably show up in your piss test. I suggest you drink a lot of cranberry juice and run a lot. If its been more than a month since you last smoked you’re fine. Good luck bro

If you have smoked weed anytime in the past 45 days, you have NOT given it up. You will have a high probably of smoking it again, and it will eventually show up positive since the military does random urine tests for drugs. If that is the case, then save the military legal system the time required to process you for less than honorable discharge. Additionally, depending on the situation and circumstances, you could also find out how well the brig is run and whether bread and water for brig rats still applies! People who use any drug in the military are a hazard to their fellow military personnel and a hazard to themselves! We don’t need or want people who cannot avoid illegal drugs.

If you last smoked the stuff 1 or more years ago, that is an indication to me that you are intent on moving ahead in your life. If that is the case, then enlist. You will not have to worry about a urine test showing positive and it won’t matter if your recruiter knows. Only your personal preformance of duty will count.

Just telling your recruiter and MEPS that you smoked is not disqualifying but it will DQ you from certain jobs (TS Clearances mostly).

On the other hand, if you go to MEPS and test positive for any drug then you will be permanently DQ’d from ever joining the military.

My advice. tell your recruiter the no BS last time you smoked and wait 45 days from then to go to MEPS. Once you DEP ii, you have to give it up for good.

Good Luck and smoking weed isnt worth it anyway!

Yes, tell him, but be ready to quit and give it up. It’s not worth the risk. If you smoke daily, it takes more than 30 days to clear from your system. Don’t risk getting to boot camp and getting discharged. The drug test at MEPS isn’t as thorough as the one at boot camp. The slighest trace of THC will get you an immediate discharge.
