Pulsar lost colony extractor

I captured two WD ships and I can’t find the extractor on neither. 🙁

Playing without an extractor is so hard..

I think that’s fair enough except.. it really sucks not having a way to move from cargo of one ship to the other. Since I was leaving my old ship, and all. I’m not sure what the solution could be, though.
Like I’m not so much upset about the lack of extractor which means I can’t steal from enemies, so much as I was upset I couldn’t carry over my old stuff onto a new ship.

Also another thing.. I started as CU and stole another CU ship. It’s “flagged”. So now the CU starting outpost attacks me even though I have good CU standing.
So.. how am I supposed to upgrade ships in this game? Doing so seems to make even your own faction hostile, no?

My crew and I have made some decent progress with our Outrider, but we’re missing the other ship designs and combat potential. We’d really like to try other ships without losing all our talents, mission completes, money and so on. So we started looking into claiming ships, however it seems really counter productive. You lose so much moving across!

Is there any way to transfer components without using the extractor on our new ship? The only way I can think of to bend the rules, is to equip bad components on our ship and have all our good stuff in the cargo. Then ‘hopefully’ succeed in claiming a ship, and moving the good stuff over from the cargo after. Another thing we haven’t tried is transferring only the extractor component via cargo, then jumping to a station to equip it, then jump back to extract. But we don’t know if the ship despawns after jumping and don’t really want to take the risk finding out.

Has anyone tried any of these methods with success or know of an easier way? I get that there should be some sort of loss in the progress, but it seems a little too punishing the later into the game you get.
